5 Ways To Incorporate Colorful Textiles In Your Home Interior

April 28, 2021 1 Comment

All it takes is some vibrant, colorful accents to transform the look of your home's interior. When you want to breathe some life into a dull decor scheme, colorful textiles can definitely do the trick!

There are virtually endless opportunities for decorating with textiles, but to get you started with some creative inspiration, I'll share some of my personal favorite ways to get the most out of them. But these aren't just any fabrics; they're vintage Guatemalan textiles with a very exclusive look.

In this post, discover 5 ways you can incorporation colorful textiles into your home interior and learn more about the remarkable culture that inspires them. Anyone seeking unique, authentic pieces to decorate with can feel inspired by these suggestions, especially if your interior lacks some character.

Bedroom Throws

A bedroom should be a comfy space, but also one that encourages that warm, joyful feeling inside of you. It's where we take the time to think, rest, relax, and recover - and if you also use it as a space to work, it can be a productive area, too.
With that in mind, it's important to make the bedroom look pleasing and welcoming, even if you are the only one who enters it. Colorful textiles are great as blankets or throws - not only can they provide some warmth, but also a decorative touch with their refreshing patterns and uplifting colors.
Throw them over the end of the bed, either folded for decoration or over the entire bed for added warmth during your slumber. Alternatively, you could throw one across an armchair or the back of a neutral desk chair. I'm certain you will fall in love with how this simple splash of color will make your bedroom look!

Picnic Adventures

Forget the typical boring and bland blanket for your next picnic outing. A vintage Guatemalan textile can be used in exactly the same way. You could even take several with you to sit on and spread the snacks while also keeping warm with one wrapped around you.
You and anyone nearby will be delighted to see such a vibrant display when enjoying the company of nature and friends. Even the sight of one will get you itching to head out for the day and show it off to the world!

Eventful Tablecloths

Planning a social gathering and inviting family or friends over? Impress them with an exclusive vintage Guatemalan textile as a tablecloth.
This colorful accent will no doubt capture their attention as they take a seat at the main table for food, chatter, or drinks. No one wants to step into an uncomfortable, uninviting home - they'll be pleased to see this welcoming them instead!
However, it doesn't need to be saved for occasional use. Keep one as your favorite, permanent tablecloth on the dining table to uphold the stunning, lively atmosphere of your home.

Creative Upholstery

While these colorful textiles are ready-to-use for all of the previous ways I've mentioned, you can also incorporate them into more productive ventures. Why not use them for your next upholstery project?
They would make a wonderful way to decorate chairs, sofas, and various other pieces of furniture. Whether it's the entire object or even just a part of it, it will make all the difference when it comes to a colorful, vintage decor scheme.

Stylish Clothing& Accessories

In addition to furniture, these textiles can also be transformed into gorgeous pillows, clothes such as shawls and scarves, and so much more. Infinite is truly an understatement when it comes to the many ways you can use textiles.
Pillows are one of my favorite ways to utilize these extraordinary hues, which can decorate your chairs, sofas, and beds or even make a lovely gift idea.

What Is Guatemalan Style?

The Guatemalan style is inspired by the vintage colors and culture of Spain and Maya.  Guatemala is a Central American country just south of Mexico. Here, one can find ancient Maya sites, flourishing rainforests, and mighty volcanoes - a place that beautifully resonates with traditional Guatemalan style.
While you will see many around these parts still wearing these vintage colors and patterns, other parts of the world are unfamiliar with it. That is precisely what makes it so special, unique, and authentic. You can set yourself apart from the conventional modern way and take the leap towards a more refreshing and vintage theme for your home and lifestyle.
You will notice that many of the patterns seen across Guatemalan designs feature a similar combination of details. The exciting zig-zag prints, symmetrical lines, geometric shapes, and gorgeous blend of contrasting colors are what define this one-of-a-kind style.
These are just some of the many ways you can incorporate colorful textiles into your home and lifestyle. Carpeting, towels, window shades, bed sheets, handkerchiefs, and the list goes on and on.
I hope this has given you plenty of inspiration for your next decorating project in the house interior! While the sound of livening up your home may sound boring or frustrating, just the mere sight of these exquisite vintage Guatemalan textiles will be enough to get your sleeves rolled up and ready to get colorful!

The Tortilla: A Look Inside Guatemalan Traditions

In the modern world, it's become increasingly difficult to find handmade goods and hearty cooked meals that live on with traditions. It feels like almost everything is made artificially without any genuine passion and care.

Guatemalan and Latin American cultures proudly stand by their history and continue to carry on their legacies since many thousands of years ago, crafting by hand and using age-old techniques even today.
